At least 200,000 pupils who sat their KCPE exam last year are likely to miss out on form one places after the selection exercise comes to an end later this week. The question is, what options do these pupils have? With the number of youth polytechnics in the country standing at a mere 500, and many others having been closed or even upgraded to university colleges, which way for the over 200,000 pupils? And is this a positive move for some who are still too young to undergo skilled training like tailoring, carpentry, masonry or any other practical training?
